What is ARA-290?
ARA 290, also called cibinetide, is an erythropoietin-derived investigational peptide studied in tissue-protection and peripheral-nerve research. It was designed to separate repair-associated signaling from red-blood-cell stimulation.
Mechanism & research focus
The proposed target is the innate repair receptor, an erythropoietin-receptor-associated signaling complex. Researchers have examined inflammatory responses, cytoprotection and nerve-fiber changes rather than simply treating it as conventional erythropoietin.
What the research covers
Small blinded placebo-controlled sarcoidosis studies reported changes in neuropathy symptom measures. A 2013 study also reported increased corneal small-nerve-fiber density. In the earlier pilot, some pain and fatigue measures improved similarly with placebo, underscoring the mixed endpoint findings.
What remains uncertain
Small exploratory trials do not establish broad nerve regeneration, efficacy in unrelated conditions or long-term safety. The catalog vial is not independently verified as equivalent to the investigational material.
The evidence label describes the linked research, not the suitability of a catalog product for use in people. Formulation, identity, purity, and measured content must be assessed separately.
