What is Cagrilintide?
Cagrilintide is a long-acting amylin analogue investigated for weight management. Studies of cagrilintide alone and studies combining it with semaglutide address different interventions.
Mechanism & research focus
Its pharmacology builds on amylin-related signaling involved in satiety and energy intake. It is distinct from a GLP-1 receptor agonist, even when the two classes are studied together.
What the research covers
A 2021 randomized phase 2 study with 706 participants reported greater weight reduction with cagrilintide than placebo. The 2025 REDEFINE-1 phase 3 study included cagrilintide-only, semaglutide-only, combination and placebo arms; its main reported comparison concerned the combination.
What remains uncertain
Combination results must not be presented as cagrilintide-alone results. Gastrointestinal adverse events occurred in clinical studies. These findings concern defined trial preparations and do not verify the identity, activity or interchangeability of a research vial.
The evidence label describes the linked research, not the suitability of a catalog product for use in people. Formulation, identity, purity, and measured content must be assessed separately.
