What is Compound 7P?
Compound 7p is a sulfonamidoacetamide lead identified in a phenotypic screen for neuronal growth. The label refers to one compound within a medicinal-chemistry series, making exact structural identity important.
Mechanism & research focus
Its reported activity is promotion of neurite extension. The discovery paper did not establish a definitive molecular target. Increased GAP-43-positive axons are an experimental growth readout, not proof that 7p directly targets GAP-43.
What the research covers
The 2016 primary study reported neurite growth in cultured hippocampal, cortical and retinal neurons, followed by increased axonal extension in a rat optic-nerve injury model. The authors identified target elucidation and further optimization as outstanding work.
What remains uncertain
These experiments do not demonstrate restored human vision, cognitive improvement or general nervous-system repair. Human pharmacokinetics, oral capsule performance and clinical safety were not established by the cited research. A matching name alone does not confirm chemical equivalence to the original study material.
The evidence label describes the linked research, not the suitability of a catalog product for use in people. Formulation, identity, purity, and measured content must be assessed separately.
