What is FOXO4-DRI?
FOXO4-DRI is a designed peptide investigated as a senolytic research tool. Its D-retro-inverso design is part of its identity; other FOXO4-derived sequences are not automatically equivalent.
Mechanism & research focus
The discovery study aimed to interrupt the interaction between FOXO4 and p53 in senescent cells. This promoted p53 relocalization and apoptosis in selected experimental systems.
What the research covers
The 2017 primary paper reported selective effects in senescent-cell cultures and changes in tissue-function measures in chemotherapy-stressed, accelerated-aging and naturally aged mice. These experiments tested a specific peptide and defined models.
What remains uncertain
The findings do not demonstrate human rejuvenation, longer human lifespan or a generally safe method of eliminating senescent cells. Selectivity across tissues, long-term consequences and human exposure remain unresolved by the cited study. Sequence, stereochemistry and formulation must match before evidence can be applied to research material.
The evidence label describes the linked research, not the suitability of a catalog product for use in people. Formulation, identity, purity, and measured content must be assessed separately.
