What is SANA (MVD1)?
SANA is a nitroalkene derivative of salicylic acid, also called MVD1 in clinical development. It is a small molecule rather than a peptide and is being investigated in metabolic research.
Mechanism & research focus
Experiments implicate creatine-dependent energy expenditure in adipose tissue. The reported thermogenic effects were independent of UCP1 and AMPK in the tested models; creatine-depletion and genetic experiments helped investigate the pathway.
Published MVD1 research concerns the tested study material. The SANA listing does not by itself verify its chemical identity or equivalence to that material.
What the research covers
A 2025 Nature Metabolism paper combined obesity-model experiments with a randomized, blinded phase 1A/B study. The human work primarily evaluated safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics, with short-term weight and metabolic measurements treated as exploratory outcomes.
What remains uncertain
Early exploratory changes do not establish durable weight-management efficacy, cardiovascular outcomes or long-term safety. The clinical intervention was a defined investigational preparation; a catalog label does not demonstrate equivalence. SANA should not be treated as interchangeable with salicylic acid, aspirin or a creatine supplement.
The evidence label describes the linked research, not the suitability of a catalog product for use in people. Formulation, identity, purity, and measured content must be assessed separately.
